How to Play

What is Lawn Bowling?

Lawn bowling is a game of skill, strategy, and fun. The goal is simple: roll your bowls (biased balls - they curve!) closer to the small white target ball, the "jack", than your opponent. It’s easy to learn but can take a lifetime to master, making it a sport people of all ages and abilities can enjoy together.

The Basics

Equipment

BOWLS: Bias bowls that curve as they roll.

JACK: The small white target ball.

MAT: Where each bowl is delivered from.

Scoring

After each round (called an “end”), the team with bowls closest to the jack scores points.

Games are played over a set number of ends, or until one side reaches a target score.

Game Formats

Singles (1 vs 1)

Pairs (2 per team)

Triples (3 per team)

Fours (4 per team)
